DevTreks Preview URLs - Cloud Production Server

Whats New

January 31, 2012: Videos introducing the online version of DevTreks have been posted.

January 30, 2012: DevTreks has been deployed for the first time to a cloud computing data center production server. The link to a .txt file at the top of the page has representative urls (and representative caveats).

January 29, 2012: DevTreks beta 0.8.7 is the first production server release. Online testing has started using this release. A video overview of this release will be posted shortly. Another good background reference for understanding DevTreks is the World Bank's, ICT in Agriculture, esourcebook (but note that DevTreks is required to use w3.org standards such as http names, xml, and xhtml).

January 19, 2012: The preview period is over. The production server version is under development and will be released next (without the start up lag).

January 05, 2012: DevTreks has notified a small number of people that they can preview the cloud version of DevTreks for a limited time, subject to too many caveats to mention: staging server; so lots of blanks; a lot of really bad data that is being used for testing has not been removed; the virtual hard drive that causes the 45 second startup is being replaced with blob storage. Please click the download urls link at the top of the page to download a text file holding links to representative urls.

January 03, 2012: Two videos introducing cloud computing deployment packages have been posted.

December 20, 2011: Videos demonstrating DevTreks in the cloud have been posted.

December 19, 2011: DevTreks 0.8.6 is a deployment package release. The release includes an improved regular deployment package. A cloud computing deployment package is being debugged and will be released when it works. A video overview of these packages will be available shortly.

December 16,2011: DevTreks release 0.8.5 is not recommended. Deployment is still being learned -the release inadvertently left out the extension dlls. A new release will be issued shortly.

December 14, 2011: The Beta 0.8.5 release has a new DataBaseInstructions.txt file advising that CTP Denali 3 is obsolete, but that database can still be used in SqlServer 2008R2 or SqlServer 2012 RC0.

December 08, 2011: Beta 0.8.5 upgraded linked views state management to the new state management introduced in the last release.

November 23, 2011: Beta 0.8.4 is a cloud computing release. Xml data management was upgraded to allow DevTreks to be deployed, easily, in cloud computing data centers. A new video will be available showing how. This release expands the DevTreks product line to include cloud computing and machine versions.

October 24, 2011: The DevTreks 0.8.3 release is not recommended. Two foreign keys are missing from the desktop database. The missing keys were discovered when the new xml data management (WCF) was tested.

October 20,2011: DevTreks received confirmation that the current xml data management will not work (easily) in cloud computing data centers that use virtual machines. It works fine with dedicated servers, but they are expensive. The next release should be a cloud compatible release -it might also be a machine compatible release.

October 14,2011: DevTreks beta 0.8.3 is a general debug/data access/'nod to cloud computing' release. DevTreks will start online testing and then decide whether to nod further.

October 1, 2011: DevTreks data access layer is being upgraded to do a better job of supporting the requirements of cloud computing data centers.

September 12, 2011: A new video, Welcome To DevTreks, is available.

September 9, 2011: DevTreks 0.8.1 fixes shortcomings in the last release. The GreenTreks network group, along with the energy conservation, carbon emission, and watershed networks, have been added to DevTreks. It took several years to build all this, now let's see if that strategic decision proves to be strategic.

September 1, 2011: A video explaining deployment on 64 bit laptops is now available.

August 19, 2011: The binaries for DevTreks beta 0.8.0 can be downloaded from the open source replositories. This release expands the DevTreks product line to include desktop, Intranet, Internet, and forthcoming cloud computing versions.
The desktop and intranet versions can be deployed using 'free' Windows 7 technologies (i.e. IIS, Sql Server LocalDb or Sql Server Express).

June 17, 2011: DevTreks beta 1 is now available. The business side of DevTreks begins.

June 9, 2011: The DevTreks beta testing instructions can be downloaded from the source code repositories. The betas start the business side of the DevTreks business plan. The plan calls for raising money to hire talented people to help build new tools and services.

DevTreks raises money from donations and fees for our products and services. Economists believe that, given the choice of voluntarily paying for those products and services, 'free riders' will not pay anything. Until we find a way to balance our needs with the needs of these rational opportunists, new versions of DevTreks can be obtained by following the guidelines found in the Contributions.txt file.

May 23, 2011: Video overviews of the last release are available, including coverage of randomized control trials, financial vs. economics social budgeting, and how to invest in the future of economics.

May 21,  2011: DevTreks Working Paper 01 is available on the Home page. Reference:
